Another Glentauchers expression released by The Single Cask. And whereas the other bottle is filled with sherried flavours, this bottle was fully matured in an ex-bourbon cask.
Glentauchers Distillery was first established in 1898 to provide a source of whisky for James Buchanan's Black & White blended Scotch. Its single malts are generally known to be lighter-tasting and floral.
This expression demonstrates the fruitiness and complexity revealed with long-term aging of Glentauchers' in an ex-bourbon cask.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Floral, fruity and light honeydew and lemongrass; but underneath there is a hit of nutmeg hiding amongst cereal notes.
Palate:Delicate and easy-going whisky, there are stonefruits and subtle melon, with hints of chocolate and hazelnut.
Finish: Long and lasting with a balance of fruit and nut flavours. A refined, relaxed dram.
