Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals.

- 2 parts bonded/100+ proof bourbon
- 1 part simple syrup
- 3 parts milk
- 1 egg, whole
- Nutmeg
- Orange twist

Combine one whole egg, bourbon, and simple syrup in shaker, shake dry. Add ice, then shake violently. Strain and serve straight down. Add milk, stir. Garnish with nutmeg and orange twist.

The perfect Homemade Egg Nog.

If using barrel proof bourbon, this becomes the perfect War Nog.

Look, I like Hood and SoCo grocery store egg nog just fine. But if you want to go full Yuletide/Clark Griswold, here’s my recipe. I only warn that once you try it, it ruins carton egg nog forever.

I also like to go with a sweeter bourbon a la Evan Williams BiB here, but go with your heart.
