We previously reported on Nikka's new labels for a "Discovery Series", where we would see a non-peated Yoichi and a peated Miyagikyo.
That's uncharacteristic given that Yoichi has traditionally been the more muscular, smokey malt, while Miyagikyo much more mellowed and floral/fruity-ish. This flips that up and let's us have a go at something slightly different.
Well now we actually have the bottles as Asahi has formalised it in a new press release, and what's more, we're now told that this is only Edition 1, which means we should see more experimentation as the Hokkaido and Sendai-based distilleries. Exciting!
