It seems like four new Monymusk Single Casks from Habitation Velier have landed!
Monymusk comes from Jamaica's Clarendon Distillery, which was built in 1949. Today it houses two pot stills, one of which is possibly the largest pot still in the Caribbean, known to produce two distinct styles - a light-low ester and a heavy high-ester style. The distillery is known for its unique flavors of butyric acid that is comparable to ghee.
Here we have two expressions from the EMB marque of the 2014 vintage, and two more expressions from the MMW marque of the 2015 vintage.
The full set includes:
-
Monymusk EMB 2014, Aged 8 Years At Distillery, Single Cask ex-Bourbon No.1, High Proof, 60% ABV (302 Bottles)
-
Monymusk EMB 2014, Aged 8 Years At Distillery, Single Cask ex-Bourbon No.2, High Proof, 60% ABV (233 Bottles)
-
Monymusk MMW 2015, Aged 7 Years At Distillery, Single Cask ex-Bourbon No. 818, High Proof, 59% ABV (283 Bottles)
-
Monymusk MMW 2015, Aged 7 Years At Distillery, Single Cask ex-Bourbon No. 960, High Proof, 60.5% ABV (281 Bottles)
We're told that the release will happen in two rounds, beginning with the current set of four single casks, the all of which is dedicated to celebrating the pot stills of Clarendon's Monymusk marques: EMB & MMW.
