Providence, from the Port Au Prince Distillery, was created in 2018 with a who's who of the spirits world, involving members of the Barbancourt family, Velier and Vittorio Capovilla - tying together Haitian rum ancestry, the rum world's biggest force and the champion of grappa, respectively.
It has since put out two key releases First Drops and Dunder & Syrup, which are white rums, and has more recently began bottling aged expressions.
Now, it appears that there will be a new 2020 Providence expression, which has been made with Cristalline sugar cane, distilled in the distillery's custom made Muller's Bain-Marie Still (made by Capovilla), and then interestingly, aged for 3 years in original ex-Providence casks.
The new expression is a blend of 27 such barrels of ex-Providence casks, and then bottled at 52% ABV.
