Overall - My first bottle of Masumi Sake. Decided to try the Yawaraka Type-1 Junmai Ginjo. Had it chilled at around 12c. Made with one of the newest sake 🌾 from Nagano, Yamae Nishiki, the aroma is evident of steam 🍚 and pine nuts. As the temperature of the sake increases, there is also hints of lychee aroma. Both the taste and body is on the lighter side and with just the right level of umami. The sake can be considered as a So-Shu because of the refreshing and smooth feeling in the mouth and also the light taste and pure aroma. The sweetness level is at medium and matches the short tail of the sake. I paired it with Indonesian curry dishes which consist of beef rendang and assam fish and because the sake is light and simple, it elevates the spice and herbs from the dishes. It also compliments the heavier flavor of the dishes as it does not overpower them. This is a light tasting sake with a low alcohol content (12%) which can be enjoy by everyone and will make a good combination with most food. This is also good for beginners who usually thinks that the alcohol content of sake is on a higher side.
Overall, this is a good sake.
