Overall - Have you ever seen a sake bottle wrapped in everyday Japanese 📰? This sake has no label and no name and is known as Shinbun Daiginjo Sake due to the fact that it is wrapped with newspaper. A very unique way of marketing this sake.
Produced by a small brewery in Nagano and brewed with the king of sake 🌾, Yamadanishiki, polished to 39%, this sake is rich with fruity sweet aroma. One can smell the fragrance of 🍐, elderflower and even mild nectar. To some, this might meant that the sake would be on the sweeter side but it is actually a medium dry sake.
With a taste and body that is light yet laden with umami, this sake will make good pairing with most dishes. This time round I enjoyed it with Thai food consisting of Prawn Tang Hoon, Tom Yum Goong, Thai Mango Salad and Chilli Lime Steam Fish. As we all know, fish sauce is all about umami and Thai food is all about fish sauce, the medium length and the dryness of the sake greatly helps enhanced the flavor from the dishes to another level as the umami from the sake is mixed together with the different flavors creating a bond and resulting in an end result of flavors blasting within my mouth. I enjoy every drop of the sake and food slowly disappearing down my throat.
Overall, this is an excellent sake with a very reasonable price tag. 👍
