BenRiach 1976 Peated, 35 years, Hogshead Cask No. 8804, 51/232, 54.9% abv.
This one is from batch 9 of the BenRiach single cask range. Heard it was one of the peatier ones in the single cask range.
Nose: peated fruit, brown sugar, red apples.
Palate: some peat, extremely well balanced, old steamed lotus leaves, light wood, tea? Extremely tasty.
Finish: moderate, peaty. A little heat.
Pretty good, the peat distracts from the fruitier aspects, but I could taste both clearly. It's quite well done, but there seem to be some expired sherry flavors in there. Wish I could revisit this one day.
Grade: B+
