Box PX. Swedish whisky with a bottle count of 1,507 in 500ml bottles exclusive for the Asian market, I believe Taiwan only... According to online sources, this 5 year unpeated single malt was matured in first fill bourbon casks from Jack Daniels and Heaven Hill, USA for a little over 4 years (on the website it sounds like second fill?) and then finished in "first fill" PX casks (55L) from Migul Martin, Spain for a year. Not sure how you can have a "first fill" PX though... Apparently the weather in Sweden accelerates the aging procees.
Nose: red wine, red grapes, honey.
Palate: red wine flavors, some honey.
Finish: short, dry, light oak, spice coat.
Interesting, the nose to finish progresses from red grapes to light wood. The relatively high abv didn't seem to have much of an effect, but the fruitiness, sweetness disappears quickly, perhaps because of the abv? Beautiful color. Pretty good stuff Sweden. Had this bottle at Larriere-cour, Taipei, Taiwan on July 29, 2017... yeah I'm still trying to catch up on old posts.
