Chita, Suntory Single Grain Whisky, 43% abv.
This bottling was specially made for the Nagoya area. But the Chita distillery is in-between the Nagoya airport and Nagoya CBD. I believe the standard bottling label is in black... so this is different in that respect.
Nose: light grain whisky aromas, medium vanilla, medium honey, light bodied.
Palate: light, has a slightly thick texture, initial palate is like heavy water, mid palate has the pepper spice build up at a very low pace, converges towards a light wood-like flavor and maintains heat, back palate has a very light boiled peanut shell and even lighter wood flavor.
Finish: long, gets spicy, the light woody peanut transforms into a light vanilla coat.
It's a relatively light grain whisky, hints of the typical grain sweetness is there but mostly vanilla, which basically converges to a light peanut and wood combination. Needs more body, lacks impact, but overall a good starter.
Grade: C
