Whisky Reviews

Clynelish 'Coastal Highland' 1990, 26 Years Old, Chieftain’s, 59.8% ABV

Clynelish 1990 / 2016 - Chieftain’s Limited Edition Collection - Sherry butt - Cask # 13162 - 59.8%ABV
.
Nose: Hot, powerful but very clean, with lots of berries, soft tannins, pepper, wax, sherried but not overpowered, with a tang of woody aroma note. (85/100)
.
Palate: Sweet, oily and creamy on arrival. Strawberries, oranges, cinnamon, nutmeg and touches of paprika. (86/100)
.
Finish: Long, spicy, fruity jam, woody (pine sap), nutty, sweet hay, earthy, oiliness with persisting freshly-cut logs. (86/100)
.
Overall: It's not my preferred kind of Clynelish, but it is an excellent whisky anyway. On the other hand, the spirit was absolute first class in the first place. (86/100)
