Glendronach Single Cask 8311, 24 Years Old, Pedro Ximenez Sherry Puncheon, 490/650, 53.9% Abv.
Glendronach single cask 8311, 1992-2016, 24 years - specially bottled for whisk-e ltd. Japan
Pedro Ximenez sherry puncheon, 490/650, 53.9% abv.
Nose: heavy on the honey, maple syrup, light on red apples, raspberries, prunes, later on green apples reveal itself.
Palate: tobacco, light old leather notes, nothing sweet, relatively smooth mouthfeel.
Finish: short, spicy, light tobacco.
Similar to cask 5527 (the previous posting), in that I couldn't tell it was a sherry cask/puncheon... couldn't tell either one was PX! Has that light campbeltown feel of tobacco and earthy notes, not much in terms of smoke, sweet fruit. Relative to 5527, the age definitely showed itself, more intense, more complex.
