Glenturret, Sherry Cask Edition, Batch No. 2, 43% abv.
Glenturret released a new core range in 2015 consisting of Triple Wood, Peated Edition, and this Sherry Edition, which was matured in American oak sherry and European oak sherry casks.
Nose: light, cherry flavored cough syrup, grassy, hay, shrubbery, a very Lowland smell.
Palate: stale wafers, chocolate on the back palate, basically the pastry portions of pies, tarts, and cakes. A few drops of water makes it extremely sweet and shows hints of old steamed lotus leaves.
Finish: moderate, initially fruity and then a little toasty, spice builds up. A few drops of water gives it an overal cherry cough syrup feel.
This did noy taste like anything sherry cask related! More grassy and bread-like than anything else. Its not bad to be honest, it has distinct flavors, well bodied, and a nice finish. This is more or less what many others are saying online as well. However, a few drops of water does change it a bit, makes it more sweet, but then converts it to cherry cough syrup. Had this at Slainte mhath bar in Busan, South Korea.
