Nose: honey with a sharp lemon zest sort punch, raw green grape juice, fruity, gets more sharp with time, almost vegetative, waxy.
Palate: dry, initial palate is pasty, light old green grape juice, vegetative, mid palate is sharp, wood, back palate is sharp with a hint of smoke or spicey pepper, I cannot tell which, overall a flavor profile that focuses on a vegetative feel than anything else.
Finish: medium to long, back nostrils feel fruit, sharp, sour wood, powdery mouthfeel, continues to dry. Has a chives or green tips of a spring onion aftertaste.
Very unexpected for an aged Karuizawa, its unbalanced, focuses on flavors I don't really enjoy, and doesn't actually execute them well. Seems like a pretty normal scotch and it's all over the place to be honest, not sure where the sherry influence really was. Back label was interesting... it was in Chinese.
