Just In 👉 Redbreast Says Don't Dream Its Over With Last Of ...

Whisky Reviews

Yamazaki 1994-2009, Barrel no. 4R70208, Ohmi Aging Cellar 56-W-2-10, Bottle no. 046, 63% abv.

Nose: light perfume, boiled peaches, with time it is dominated by high alcohol sherry elements, crystalized fruit, hints of salt, becomes quite sherry-fruity with dried figs, light semi-dried raisins, cranberries, many citrus elements, currants, cherries, fruit wax, like a Mac30 with much higher abv... the alcohol is not going unnoticed and it is quite distracting.

Palate: medium body, balanced, initially dry but... you'll see, initial palate has spice develop quite quickly, large amounts of fruit and fruit juice, hints of butter, mid palate has major fruit, dark chocolate, many moderate level sherry flavors, inclusion of purple grapes, apples, plums, peaches, mangoes, cherries, cranberries, light raspberry, ripe strawberries, sangria, very spicey but this takes time to get acclimated to, for some reason it is coating the mouth, back palate has the sherry residue, chocolate, less citrus than the main profile,

Finish: short, dry, a little bit of mocha, purple grape jam, fruit jam in general, bitter twigs, hints of a fruit cider. A true one night stand.

The alcohol was a real distraction on the first sip and was overwhelming, but afterwards the flowers come out! Major sherry fruits and oiliness, but dry too. Surprisingly, each sip gets weaker on the alcohol front in terms of sensory distraction, allowing the acceptance of many flavors in a more lucid manner. Did I say major fruits and citrus?
