[Whisky Dram] Talisker 10. Seasalt Pepper Lemon. Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
#whiskyPhDram No. 30. Talisker 10. Seasalt Pepper Lemon. Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
Nose - Sea salt, crushed unsalted nuts, rumcake, lemon, damp earth
Palate - opens with mild smoke and some lemon with sweet vanilla, the smoke lingers, a little sharp on the tongue but it also coats the mouth with vanilla, new wood. The smoke grows with black pepper in the background. There’s a lemon wedge with a little bitterness from the rind.
Finish - Medium finish of cashew nuts, bread and sweet sugary cola, very light betadine.
Feels like college parties and regret.
It really does. This is a good and interesting dram. There’s smoke, there’s sweetness, there’s salt, there’s citrus. But I can’t get fully on board with it because it reminds me too much of doing tequila shots at college parties. I think it’s also the order of encountering the tasting notes that gives me this impression. You start with the salt, then the alcohol attacks with a little bit of pepper notes, then you take the lemon wedge and rind. Am I the only one that gets this feeling?
It’s bottled at 45.8%, but is chill filtered and is believed to not be bottled in its natural color.
This goes for around ₱3,500-₱3,800 (70-76USD) here and can be purchased from your trusty online liquor stores.
