5. La Marca Uses the Charmat Method To Generate Prosecco's Trademark Fizz


Unlike Champagne, which ferments in the bottle, La Marca is made using the Charmat method (also known as the tank method). This involves fermenting the wine in large pressurized stainless steel tanks rather than individual bottles. This is differentiated from the Traditional Method used in Champagne and Cava production, whereby secondary fermentation occurs directly in the bottles.
