.33 oz black truffle syrup⁣⁣

1 dash cranberry bitters⁣⁣

4 drops @crudebitters smoke and salt bitters⁣⁣

stir, strain over rocks, express orange twist⁣⁣

I was trying to make a really savory umami bomb of an old fashioned using shiitake infused scotch, baijiu, and black truffle syrup but it didn't pan out. It was one of those situations where I was so preoccupied with whether or not I could, I never stopped to think if I should. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣

I had the syrup left over and was looking to use it in something. This is what popped into my head. I was out of scotch so I used rye, but I'm going to revist this later when I've made another batch of the shiitake infusion. Truffle is such a pungent and unique flavor I was afraid it would be overwhelming but it ended up being pretty subtle here. ⁣⁣
