My first front of house gig was backing at a place in Boston called Clarkes . If you know @clarkesboston then you know nobody could ever complain about this place being pretentious with their cocktails. The job was a nightly ass kicking but I loved it. Working there opened the door to bartending for me and I'll always look back on that place fondly because of it. The go-to shift drink was almost always a room temp shot of Jameson chased with a Coors lite and since then i haven't been able to look at a bottle of either without thinking back to that time.
For this Old Fashioned I used Jameson as the base spirit. I find Irish whiskey to often be smoother and more mellow than it's American counterpart. I used a barspoon of amaro nonino instead of traditional bitters. Then a jasmine tea simple syrup, a little peach bitters, and an expressed orange peel to bring it all together.
Recipe
50 ml @jamesonwhiskey
1 barspoon @amaro_nonino
7ml jasmine tea syrup
3 drops peach bitters
Stir, strain over rocks, express orange twist
