Peely's Revenge
30ml @bacardi 8
15 ml Smith and cross
30 ml @mongozo_beers banana beer
20 ml toasted coconut syrup
4 drops @bittermens elemakule tiki bitters
1 dash @angosturahouse bitters
1 whole egg
reverse dry shake and fine strain. Garnish with grated nutmeg and a caramelized banana slice.
My awesome gf @raynawang007sh came home with an assortment of beers tonight and one stuck out to me so I tossed this funky flip together.
Mongozo Banana is made by the same folks who make delirium tremens and actually has a pretty nice banana taste. They blend a belgian wit beer with banana juice. It's sweet but not overwhelmingly so and doesn't taste too artificial.
The blend of rums turned out great. You get a bit of oak and vanilla from the Bacardi 8 and the funky over ripe fruit from the Smith and Cross that works so well with banana.
The syrup was a game time decision. I had just made a black beer syrup for another drink and was thinking about using that, but noticed the toasted coconut on the counter and decided to send it.
The end result is a funked up banana flip with a rich, smooth texture, a hint of coconut and a bit of a kick. Now if I could only get my hands on a decent banana liqueur.
