The Trinidad Sour

1.5 oz Angostura Bitters (@angosturahouse )
1 oz orgeat (@liberandco ) .75 oz lemon juice .5 oz rye whiskey (@old_overholt_official )
shake, strain into a Nick and Nora or coupe.
This is a drink that people dont expect to be anywhere near as good as it is. With so much bitters, it should be a lip-curling experience but surprisingly yields a sweet, nutty, spiced, and of course bitter twist on a whiskey sour. The orgeat adds almondy marzipan sweetness while creating a slightly fuller texture that with the help of a little acidity reigns in the bitters. The end result is a modern classic.
Liber and Co is a great company making syrups and other cocktail ingredients out of Austin, TX. When I used to bartend in Austin we used their stuff all the time. Their orgeat is especially bomb, and has a really rich marzipan flavor.
