The next pick comes from friend of the page @superfunhoppytimes; who has given us the brew (and it’s a brilliant choice so prepare yourself) and the musical genre to match with. We’ve picked punk and then went to the top shelf of punk bands. The band is @_pennywise and the album is their fourth studio album “Full Circle”
The album was released on April 22nd 1997, and was the first album to include One Hit Wonder bassist Randy Bradbury. There was a delay in recording this album, when founding member Jason Thirsk took a hiatus from the band due to alcoholism. Bradbury stepped in and when Thirsk returned, Bradbury was then going to switch to playing rhythm guitar. Sadly though Thirsk took his own life in July 1996. The band was shaken by Thirsk's death; however, they decided to continue performing, thus adding Bradbury as Thirsk's permanent replacement.
The resulting album is classic 90’s Punk and remains one our favourites from the 90’s Punk era. The track “Society” made the @triple_j #hottest100 of 1997 and also contains a track from a previous release, which has been rewritten.
The track “Bro Hymn” was part of their self titled album from 1991 and was about the death of bassist Jason Thirsk's departed friends Tim Colvin, Carlos Canton and Tom Nichols. Following Thirsk’s death, the song was rewritten as a tribute to their dearly departed friend. The new version of the track is a powerful and emotional tribute to their dear friend. We can only imagine this being song being sung by the band and their friends with a beer in hand; remembering the good times with their friend.
Now for the beer that would fit brilliantly when belting out that tune, @superfunhoppytimes has delivered the perfect brew. The brew is Twang Strawberry and Cream from @ballsticbeer. A brilliantly tart sour, with strawberries added to the brew and topped off with creamy lactose; it really is a brilliantly tasty brew.
