Boatrocker Coffee Ramjet 2019 x Metallica - Garage

BARREL AGED BRILLIANCE INC BREWED IN THE WORLD’S BEST GARAGE

The next pick is from a band we love who went back to their roots, combined with a huge brew that takes us back to our craft beer drinking roots.

The album is full of covers of seminal rock and metal songs that have inspired the band that has been well known as “The Four Horsemen”. The album contained songs and artists such as Discharge, Black Sabbath, the Misfits and Motorhead. The album is a brilliant trip through the songs that the band love. More impressively, there are brilliant left-field songs from artists such as Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and Bob Seger.

After creating three albums in a row, which have been described as “pretty serious albums” by drummer Lars Ulrich; the band went back to their roots and recorded 11 new tracks for the first disc, with the second disc being all the cover EP’s the band has done over the years. The “Mercyful Fate” medley stands out, and when the former Mercyful Fate singer King Diamond was asked about it; he said that he didn’t know they were planning to record this medley and he said that “This was really, really an amazing take on those songs; it just sounded killer, it was so well done.” He has also sung the medley three times with the band. The album also contains the traditional folk ballad “Whisky in the Jar”, which originally is over 300 years old and was recorded by Thin Lizzy in 1972.

Now for the beer, and this brew is one of the very first barrel aged beers we’ve ever had, and is still one of the best. The beer is from a brewery that was first in Australia to barrel age beers, and this barrel aging they took on delivered the brilliant “Coffee Ramjet”. The brewery we are of course talking is @boatrockerbrew. Our live beer search on Saturday delivered the perfect brew for this album. The beer is barrel aged in whisky barrels from @starwardwhisky. After 2 years of mellowing, the intense coffee notes have dropped off nicely but are still there, and the malty notes, along with the whisky notes and the woody flavours are still brilliant.
