Brewlander XPA

XPA

An XPA is a relatively new style and it's said to sit between an American Pale Ale and Indian Pale Ale because it's designed to be hoppier than the APA and less bitter than the IPA. Another key element is the use of citrusy hops but seems not a mandatory character in the XPA.

This beer poured hazy pale yellow (as expected). It smelt of tropical fruits with pineapple as the predominant trait. Mouthfeel for some reason reminds me of the cream soda soft drink and there's a slight tartness in the aftertaste with an obvious dry finish.

Though it's expected to be hop forward, the maltiness and sweetness is perceived quite well. It could be due to the subdued bitterness and dryness, it was really refreshing and I enjoyed it so much that I'm recommending it! Bought it from cold storage as FYI! 🍻
