Château Noir (Cellar Series) by Põhjala

Château Noir (Cellar Series) by Põhjala
Style: Barrel Aged Imperial Baltic Porter
By @pohjalabeer , Tallin, Estonia 🇪🇪
ABV: 12%
My rating: 4.6/5

"A vinous Imperial Baltic Porter aged in 2017/2018 Bordeaux red wine barrels and Pedro Ximenez barrels." After reading this in the label I imagined its aroma before I opened it.

And it was exactly as I wanted, vinous, powerful, merciless to people who aren't willing to drink, but they can't. A lot red wine and Jérez, dark maltiness and molasses.

Pours black, tan head, very creamy, with eternal retention and laces.

Low bitterness and medium sweetness, dark fruits, caramel and molasses to accompany intense barrel flavours from red wine and Pedro Ximénez jérez. Intense and rocking. Impressive.

Thick mouthfeel, low carbonation, well-played booze, which doesn't overwhelms the experience.

Possibly my best Põhjala experience to date. Absolutely intense. Insane brew.
