Collective Arts Good Monster DIPA x Alanis Morissette - You Learn

IT’S LIKE DOUBLE IPA ON YOUR WEDDING DAY

The next pick is the first time the world had heard Canadian Singer Alanis Morrisette; with the release of her third studio album “Jagged Little Pill”. This album was a huge departure from the dance-pop sound of her first two albums.

Morissette began work on the album after moving from her hometown Ottawa to Toronto; she made little progress until she travelled to Los Angeles, where she met producer Glen Ballard. When she met Ballard, they hit it off and started writing music together for her lyrics and experimenting with sounds. The experimentation resulted in an alternative rock album that takes influence from post-grunge and pop-rock and features guitars, keyboards, drum machines, and harmonica.

The lyrics, with their themes of aggression, raw anger and frank portrayal of female sexuality, unsuccessful relationships and sleazy record bosses who prey on female artists; pack a lyrical punch and the music that goes with them works brilliantly and remains at one of the best albums of the ’90s. The album sold over 33 million copies and topped the charts in 13 countries. The raw anger, emotion and feeling in the album struck a chord with lots of people.

Now for the beer, and O Canada did we find a hard-hitting brew for this album, The Collective Arts Good Monster DIPA. This beer is a beast, and hits you right between the eyes; just like the album does. Double dry-hopped with 24g/L of Mosaic, Citra, Simcoe and Amarillo;  there are notes of mango and passionfruit, peach, orange, lemon and grapefruit. The brewers didn’t hold back on this one; just like Alanis didn’t with her music.
