The next band is from a band hailing from Glasgow, Scotland in 2002, their brilliant track “Take Me Out” was the Number 1 of the 2004 @triple_j #hottest100 and also made the Hottest 100 Of All Time Countdown in 2009.
The band is @franz_ferdinand and the album is their self titled album, which was released in Early 2004.
The album received universal acclaim, and BBC Music wrote that Franz Ferdinand "may not be a particularly long album, but it is a masterpiece of funky, punky, suave cool from the first track to the last”. This really is a great description, and this album really doesn’t have any weak songs and is a sound that at that stage we hadn’t really heard before.
The band was named after Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, who has been described as a very rich man who wanted to show off how rich we was, so in order to show off how rich he was, he went to a country where he wasn’t liked. His death on the 28th June 1914 is one of he main causes of World War One.
Now with the tragic but not unexpected history lesson out of the way; back to the music. The album made the Top 10 in 4 countries, and has sold over 3.5 million copies. “Take Me Out” has been played on @spotify over 400 million times.
Now for the beer, and the perfect choice here is the Collins Street Brewing Co Once Bitter Golden Ale. Golden Ale’s are not a style of beer we see that much anymore, which is a real shame because it’s a great style. We love the malt sweetness and the subtle tropical notes. It’s a suave, cool brew which is really clean and crisp. It’s a perfect match for this amazing album.
