The next pick is from the absolute best of the best from the Grunge era, Nirvana. The album we’ve picked from this generationally amazing band is their final studio release, In Utero.
The album was released 7 months before Kurt Cobain’s Death on September 13th 1993. Early in 1992, frontman Kurt Cobain said that the album will be "more raw with some songs and more candy pop on some of the others. It won't be as one-dimensional as Nevermind".
The extremes are definitely there, from the powerful and melodic “Pennyroyal Tea”, to the raw and unpredictable “Radio Friendly Unit Shifter”. The entire album was recorded in 14 days, was banned from Wal-Mart and Kmart and the third single “Pennyroyal Tea” was recalled after Cobain’s death. It’s estimated that only 200 to 400 copies are left.
The album was met with critical acclaim as a drastic departure from Nevermind, with reviewers lauding the change in sound and Cobain's lyricism. The album was a Number One in four countries, and made the Top Five in another eleven countries. A huge departure from the sound of “Nevermind” and a departure in sound that people absolutely loved. The album has sold over 15 million copies and is regarded as their next best album after “Nevermind”
Now for the beer, and just like the album not being one dimensional, the beer is equally well dimensioned just like this album. This Imperial Cream Sour is loaded up with Pineapple, Lime, Coconut, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Vanilla, and Milk Sugar. The series this beer comes from pays homage to the family owned corner stores throughout Australia.
Having this beer takes us back to the time where we’d head to the corner store, buy a bag with every lolly in the store, and then head home and play this waaaaaaaaaay too loud.
