Gremlin Mode, Sour, Tripping Animals × Xul Beer Company

Gremlin Mode | Tripping Animals × Xul Beer Company
Fruited Sour | ABV 6.0%

Cracked the first can out of the 4-pack for hitting 1k followers, thanks guys! Was also really debating on which can to start with - between this and the PB+J Mixtape cans 😂

It pours thick, like smoothie thick and with such a beautiful colour, I knew I started on the right can! I can't find the right name for this shade of orange, but it's a cross between honey and marigold orange.

I don't get much on the nose at first, but the flavours that follow gives this sour extreme tropical and fruity vibes. It takes a while to pick apart the different fruits involved, but I quickly get coconut, pineapple and mango. Sort of like a piña colada, with a slight savoury touch (baked cinnamon, and vanilla sugar glaze???). Really juicy and orange-pulpy, like a breakfast smoothie. Actually, the coconut is quite evident, I'd prefer more fresh sweetness from the fruits than the coconut hahaha.

A real treat after deep cleaning my room too 🫠 I feel like a Hawaiian pizza will go great with this beer, get the extra toasted pineapple chunks (sorry not sorry to people who say pineapple don't belong on pizzas!!!)

Sometimes I wonder, what's the thought process behind each beer name - why is this called Gremlin Mode?

My father's unfiltered review:
"Nice ah, but too fruity I don't know what fruits I'm drinking. Great for tasting but I can't drink a full pint of this. Very thick also, like all the smoothie sours you drink, I'm not a big fan 😒"
