Hargreaves Hill Pursuit of Hoppiness #9 x Linkin Park - Meteora

A MASSIVE SOUND AND A MASSIVELY BRILLIANT BREW.

The next pick is the second studio album from incredibly talented @linkinpark, “Meteora”. The album takes its name from The Meteora; a rock formation in central Greece hosting one of the largest and most precipitously built complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries. The cover art has the Amsterdam-based artist DELTA, who collaborated with the band for the cover and is the and shadowy figure on the cover.

Lyrically the album contains elements including depressing emotions, anger, and recovery. The mix of Brad Delson's heavy guitar playing, Joe Hahn's scratching, Mike Shinoda's rapping and a mix of melodic and powerful vocals of Chester Bennington, the album caught the ears of listeners and became massively successful, topping the US albums upon its release; one of 15 countries it topped the charts in and selling over 16 million copies.

The album churned out five hit singles, and one of the those is the deeply personal song “Numb”, which people connected with as much because of Joe Hahn's electronic beats and Bennington's vocals about children who are sick of living up to the high expectations their parents set for them. The lyric "Every step that I take is another mistake to you" is about how they feel like they can't do anything to make their parents proud.

Now for the beer, and it’s fair to say that a soaring album like this needs a powerful soaring brew. Our friends from @hargreaveshill have delivered again with “Pursuit of Hoppiness #9”; which is a brilliantly smooth, yet powerful Oat Cream IPA. We love the use of the Mosiac hop in this beer; and the use throughout the brewing process really makes for a really complex and tasty brew. The addition of lactose really rounds out the beer perfectly. The beer and tunes combination is a massive sound and a brilliant brew.
