RAGE AGAINST THE HOPS – THE BATTLE OF RESERVOIR
The next pick is arguably the best album from a powerful, politically motivated @rageagainstthemachine. You could argue it’s their best album; but honestly how do you split them when they are all amazing. The album selection is the amazingly powerful follow up to “Evil Empire”; “The Battle of Los Angeles”. Events in the US and the world at the time gave the band plenty of ammunition; you won’t find any love songs here, just abused altar boys; no cries of alienation, just calls to arms for peasant Mexican rebels and a band led protest that shutdown the New York Stock Exchange.
The power created from the southern rock riffs and the dirty grunge guitar playing of Tom Morello, a fantastic beat and a tight rhythm section as well as Zach De La Rocha’s powerful lyrics and fire and brimstone rapping and lyrics with a powerful message made for an amazing combination.
Produced by Brenden O’Brien; who has worked on albums for bands such as Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden and Korn; the album was brilliantly made and hugely popular. The album topped the charts in four countries and song “Sleep Now In The Fire” was the 13th most popular song of the #hottest100 of 2000.
Now for the beer, and a powerful album needs a powerful brew. The brew comes from Hawkers beer, whose founder Mazen Hajjar started the Middle East’s first craft brewery back in July 2006 during the war between Israel and Hizbollah. Starting in February 2015 with just 4 people and built into something fantastic. The beer is the fantastic brew called “Kylie”, which is a Double Rye West Coast IPA made in collaboration with Three Weavers Brewing Company. This beer is loaded with Mosaic, Simcoe, Eclipse, Sabro, Nelson, Ella, Cascade, Centennial hops and the use of a huge amount of rye gives it a brilliant backbone and is an amazing beer.
