Hop Nation Valencia Orange Hazy IPA x Silverchair - Diorama
The next pairing has a brewery that is one of our favourites, and a band that is one of absolute favourites. The brewery is @hopnation, the band is silverchair, and the album is their absolutely magnificent 4th Album “Diorama”
After initially recording eight tracks for “Diorama”; they were scrapped as Daniel Johns felt they sounded too much like their previous release “Neon Ballroom”. He restarted from scratch, creating something uplifting. The end result is a beautifully layered album, with amazing song writing; with the heavy grunge influence on their prior work replaced by string and horn ensembles and highly complex song structures.
The album helped Johns rediscovered his passion for music; and during the recording collaborated with others on the album, including Van Dyke Parks (who has worked with the Beach Boys and U2) to create orchestral arrangements for the album. One article about the album mentioned that they thought Daniel Johns has been studying the back catalogues of Queen and the “Use Your Illusion” Era @gunsnroses. It’s actually not a bad way of thinking about the album, which is a significant departure from earlier releases.
The album was a number one album in Australia, was voted the 21st most popular album of the @triple_j #hottest100 Australian Albums of all time; and the track “The Greatest View” made #10 on the 2002 @triple_j #hottest100 of 2002.
Now for the beer, and it just had to be from our friends from @hopnation, and the beer of choice is the “Valencia Orange Hazy IPA”. The brew is double dry hopped using Amarillo, Mosaic and Simcoe; and haloed by sweet-tart Valencia oranges. Sam and Dunc keep producing quality brews, and we just love this one. We love NEIPA’s and IPA’s that have something extra added to them, and this has that brilliant something extra that is just perfection.
