Horoyoi Melon Soda, Chu Hai, Suntory, 3% ABV

Horoyoi Melon Soda

Another one that the missus bought but didn't want to drink it after taking a sip of the first can (bought 3 cans for 8.50 at @donkisg; I think the offer is still ongoing).

I had this after eating a plate of really spicy marinated cockles. Was quite surprised that it managed to soothe the spiciness quite effectively.

This looks seasonal (limited edition) and seems like an extension to a melon soda that Suntory is already offering in its product range. Pours with a clear 'green goblin' greenish green, I felt it wasn't that sweet but sweet enough to finish it unknowingly before the alcohol hits.

I could imagine this drink to be used quite often during Halloween if you know what I mean though looking at the ingredients list is already scary enough (another reason why I don't usually review alcohol mixes and stick mostly to beer).

As expected, the taste is pretty one dimensional (melon smell, melon taste), but it's not as artificial tasting as I imagined it would be. Carbonation wise it's lower than what I would expect from a soda, actually, I would prefer it to be abit more carbonated as it's near to flat for me.

Country: 🇯🇵
Style: Chu hai
Abv: 3%
Brewery: @suntory_jp
