Kaiser Kölsch from Lion Brewery. 4.5% ABV as is appropriate for the style.
What is out of character is the kveik yeast they’ve used for brewing and notes of apple that they’ve presented as a feature. It’s a departure from what you’d expect from a classic style, which is weird because Lion does a really good English bitter. Why not lean into it and produce a hoppy IPL instead?
Okay beer and considering it’s 29 deg C at time of writing it’s a good cooler-downer, but I’m not sure I’d seek this one out again. (Hint: Alive’s One Night in Cologne is brilliant)
Always stating the hopvious
I’m just a guy who’s a beer reviewer for fun.
