Little Creatures Brewing Rogers x Bernard Fanning - Songbird

The next is from a well known and much loved artist in Australia, the lead singer of @powderfinger_bandofficial, whose brilliantly constructed track “Wish You Well” was Number 1 on the @triple_j #hottest100 of 2005.

The artist is @bernardfanning, and the album is Tea and Sympathy. With @powderfinger_bandofficial on a hiatus and other members of the band working on side projects Drag and The Predators, Fanning decided to work alone and follow a musical direction he felt he couldn’t as a member of @powderfinger_bandofficial.

The result is an amazing mix of alternative rock and country / folk music. Despite the critical reception being mixed, the album was awarded album of the year at the @aria_officla awards in 2006. The album had stiff competition that year with @officialwolfmother@augiemarchmusic and @eskimojoemusic also nominated. He was also voted best male artist and the album won Best Cover Art.

Released in October 2005, the album reached #1 in Australia and has sold over 350,000 copies in Australia.

Now for the beer, this was a hit for us at the @littlecreaturesbrewing beer hall in Brunswick St Fitzroy back in the day. Whilst is not an independent beer like most of our choices, it’s a great brew that really hits the spot. The beer is @littlecreaturesbrewing Rogers’. It’s a great combination of Pale Malt, Wheat, Carapils and Vienna Malts.

The hops used are East Kent Goldings (used in the kettle), Cascade (in the whirlpool) Stella and Cascade (whole hop cones used in the hop back). All together is makes for a really full flavoured Amber Ale which we keep going back for.
