Longan and Red Dates Mead, Lion City Meadery, 7% ABV

Β

First time reviewing a mead. If anyone of you don't know, mead is like the oldest fermented drink in the world and people who make mead have a somewhat cool name called mazers. It's also sometimes called the drink of the gods as long long time ago only 'God like' people or really rich people can afford to buy a drink fermented from honey and water.

This from the first look is a pretty cool adaptation of the very common drink most of us have kids are familiar with. For Asians, right after delivering, mums don't drink water, it has to be red dates (sometimes with longan) boiled in water.
The aroma coming from the red dates was really pronounced along with a base of the honey smell. This drink was slighly thick, literally sweet (as in sugar syrupy sweet) and I can swear that the bubbles also look nicer than the bubbles in the beer.

I for one is not really into sweet fermented drinks, so I would have prefer something drier and less of the sugar.

Overall, it's a really nice alcoholic take on this traditional herbal tea.
