Is it white or is it black? What do you call an ale with a dark orangey opaque body and taste somewhat like a stout?
This reminds me of a video I watched sometime back where it shared that peoples' perception of taste can be altered just by changing the color of the beverage. That's why it's important to do a blind taste test to rule out this biaseness. π
This is a playful take on putting together something that looks like one thing but taste like something else. Probably for this reason, this is not 'officially' accepted as a beer style. π§
Coffee is very pronounced in this beer almost like having a cold brew, mouthfeel is very creamy and almost sticky; probably from the addition of adjuncts like oats? The aftertaste is roasty sweet caramel-like; stronger as it gets nearer to room temperature.
If you're a stout lover and expect this to taste like stout, then I think you're in for a disappointment. Keep an open mind and think about the effort in putting the ingredients to brew this white stout. π
