Mountain Culture Coconut Stout x Metallica - And Justice for All

AN ALBUM AND A BEER WITH AGGRESSIVE COMPLEXITY…

Before we get into the next pick, we wanna give a shout out to @just_a_girl_and_her_beers, who got us onto the brew for this album and provided the pic we’ve used. If you want to see an Insta page from someone who knows a good brew, this is the page for you.

The next pick is the brilliantly complex, powerful and heavy @metallica album “…And Justice for All”. This album was the first to feature Jason Newsted on bass, after the tragic death of Cliff Burton in a bus accident in 1986.

The album deals with many dark themes, including corruption, death, murder, blacklisting, and censorship. The band has never really been know to take a political stance; but this album is considered to be their most politically motivated release. The cover, designed by Stephen Gorman based on a concept by Metallica guitarist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich, depicts Lady Justice bound in ropes. The Lady Justice on the cover of the album takes it inspiration from the Lady Justice atop the High Court in Frankfurt.

The album is widely accepted as one of their best, and contains arguably their best song, the amazing tale “One”. The song is an anti-war song that portrays a World War I soldier who is severely wounded—arms and legs blown off by a landmine, blind and unable to speak or move—begging God to take his life. The flim clip has scenes from the 1971 Movie “Johnny Got His Gun”, which is based on 1939 book written by Dalton Trumbo.

Now for the beer, and this album is not f%#^king around, and the beer needed to be a serious and powerful brew. @mountainculturebeerco have delivered the powerfully tasty brew, with their Toast Coconut Stout. The beer is made with a massive number of eight malts, and a brilliant addition of toasted coconut. This imperial stout has amazing flavours, and is a full, smooth brew with really tasty coffee and coconut flavours.
