Neo-psychedelia, a sound that came out of North America at the turn of the century and a haunting attempt to re-invent traditional psych rock through the prism of Gen X.
You can take your pick from adult-based animated series like Rick & Morty, Bojack Horseman, Big Mouth and the like, “The Midnight Gospel” can be added to that list, and it’s engaging once you get used to the trippy animation. Born out of Duncan Trussel’s podcasts with various psychologists, authors and gurus, and animated by Pendelton Ward (creator of Adventure Time), “The Midnight Gospel” takes you on an existential rollercoaster on the search for…well, the truth probably. Truth about what? You’ll have to figure that out once you’ve watched the show.
MGMT sing nostalgically about having models for wives, moving to Paris, and shooting heroin. The kicker, though, is in the title itself. Knowing that the Almost Famous notion of stardom doesn't exist anymore. The duo of Andrew Vanwyngarden and Ben Goldwasser realize they're "fated to pretend." It's a charming idea making a career out of fantasizing and on Oracular Spectacular, they not only accept their playacting destiny, they demonstrate that, just maybe, it's a path more people should take.
In an imaginary galaxy far, far away lives a tasty beer overtaken by giant, cosmic gummy worms. Inspired by its younger sibling, Gummy Worms Chewy Pale Ale, this IPA has a name for itself. It’s overrun with Galaxy, Amarillo, and Citra hops. Aromas of soft, tropical citrus fruits are followed by out-of-this-world flavors of zesty grapefruit and a hint of dank. Venture to the galaxy, but don’t feed the worms!
