Papayas In The Morning
Got hold of another Brew King entry fromΒ @beerforce.sg. This time it's one from Off Day. I've always like the idea of the 'Asian take' on craft beer where local produce could be incorporated as part of the brew like oolong tea for Taiwan beers, chilli peppers for China beers, durian for Singapore beers π. So this ale from Off Day was another one I was looking forward to.
Poured straw yellow, the initial aromatics were mainly from the IPA base. I like how the right amount of lactose and probably the papaya that helped balance out the bitterness from the hops.
The mouthfeel was a little creamy, and the alcohol on the nose was abit too high to my liking as I felt it kind of obscured the other elements in the taste profile. The papaya wasn't that obvious until later stages when the beer warmed up but it was in the right amounts; a little too much papaya would have easily tilted the spectrum to the other extreme.
Overall, it was extremely easy drinking and light for an IPA. π»
