Beer Reviews

Punchin' Rye Pale Ale, Rye Pint, 5% ABV

Last post for the year! I'm sure 2021 is going to be much better than this year!

Although this beer style is pretty ubiquitous nowadays, I don't think I have tried many variants to do an accurate comparison.

Trying this pale ale from a local brewery that started in 2015, it truly is a good mix of hoppiness and crisp mouthfeel. I would think the passion fruit aroma was kind of a bonus. Very fruity and sweet smelling like the fruit but I feel it's no longer there after the hops took over. I couldn't really describe the very unique bitterness aftertaste but I would assume it is due to the rye adjunct added which I read would give a 'sharp edge' to the beer.

The cat logo is reminds me of Hayao Miyazaki's animation. It's pretty cool and scary at the same time. 😅

I saw some really interesting collaborations with this brewery! Hope to try some of them in the future!
