Range Brewing Day Wave NEIPA x Stone Temple Pilots - Core

RIDING THE GRUNGE WAVE INTO A CORE OF BREWING BRILLIANCE

The next pick is the debut album from @stpband, the hugely popular and very confident “Core”. The album has been widely praised, with the band’s confidence and identity being noticed straight up; which isn’t usual with band’s and their debut release. Guided by producer Brenden O’Brien, the band was able to capture their sound; with the album being recorded in three weeks.

What would become one of the band’s biggest all-time hits, “Plush” is built on a unique chord structure which was inspired by Robert DeLeo’s love of ragtime music. The explanation of the lyrics of the album by Scott Weiland with his quote “I feel very strongly that all individuals, regardless of age, race, creed or sexual preference, should have the freedom to exercise their rights as human beings to enjoy life, pursue what they want and feel comfortable about who they are. I guess I tend to find the darker sides of life more attractive than the yellows and oranges. I know it's something that I relate to when I listen to music.”

The album peaked at #3 on the US Billboard charts, sold over 8 million copies. The track “Plush” was also the 12th most popular song of the 1993 @triple_j #hottest100.

The legacy of the album lived on long after it’s release, with making the list of the Top 10 Guitar albums of 1992 in 2011. In 2019, Rolling Stone ranked the album as the 11th best in their list of the 50 Greatest Grunge Albums.

Whilst this brilliant album cranks along, we need a beer that can crank along with it. @rangebrewing whipped up a brilliant NEIPA, when they took their “Day Wave” IPA and amped it up. The double dry hopping with Citra, Amarillo and Cashmere hops, as well as the addition of lactose deliver intense tropical flavours. This beer, like the album is a beautiful thing from the start to the end.
