The next pick is from the band that loves to keep us waiting, and that doesn’t disappoint when they finally release new music. The band is @toolmusic, and the album is the 2019 Release “Fear Inoculum”
The band’s fifth album came a staggering 13 years after their amazing album “10000 Days”. Anything produced by the band is met with huge anticipation, but when the wait is this long; you can imagine the excitement amongst Tool fans when this finally dropped. The album, musically anyway does really feel like it carries on from where “10000 Days” left us back in 2006. The album does start off slow, but in true Tool fashion, builds into something brilliant.
As with most Tool albums, the instrumental tracks were developed first, with Maynard James Keenan writing vocals once the instrumental tracks were created. In retrospect, Keenan recounted that the band constantly second-guessing themselves was a reason for the album taking so long.
The album explores the concept of growing older and wiser, with Keenan explaining that the album covers the idea of "embracing where we are right now, acknowledging where we've come from and some of the things we've gone through." Keenan also advised that patience and multiple listens were required in understanding the album, comparing it to a slowly developing movie. Also, the concept of seven is a recurring theme of the album both musically and conceptually; Chancellor and Jones wrote guitar riffs in unusual time signatures related to the number seven, while Keenan introduced ideas related to seven as well.
The beer we’ve picked is the perfect match, because just like the music it’s not afraid to experiment. Range Brewing have concocted the perfect Double IPA, with their brew “Double Dripping in Green”.Loaded full of delicious Citra and Mosaic hops, you need to prepare yourself for a brilliant assault on your senses. It has a deep foggy haze; and is a big intense, sweet, hoppy, citrus flavoured brew that moves and builds just like the brilliant tracks on “Fear Inoculum”
