Meta: this has been my favourite post to make, EVER. If ever you’ve been to Japan during the year-end holiday season, you’ll understand 💖🎄 I’m posting this now because once the Christmas holiday period hits my household, it’s gonna hit it hard.

The beer itself isn’t the most Christmassy on the Christmas spice front. I guess it reminds me a bit of a Terry’s Chocolate Orange or a Jaffa Cake, which I _guess_ have Christmas connections for me..?

Well anyway, it’s a good one. Rogue has had some food collaboration beers that were iffy to say the least (I never enjoyed the Voodoo Donut ales and the Sriracha stout was abominable) so it was a relief to pour this out, inhale and go, “Yummy!”

Santa’s Reserve 2022 starts out with notes of cacao mainly, and is best when given some time to warm up and allow the nutty tahini and sweet citrusy tangerine aromas to come into play. It’s sweet but not cloyingly so (sorry, pastry stout fans!) and thankfully the tangerines don’t overwhelm the palate. Overall, a pleasant sipper for these December evenings with the torrential rain.

Happy Christmas! メリクリスマス❗️🎄🎅🎁
