Crosses usually stylized as †††
is the musical side project of Deftones singer Chino Moreno, Far guitarist Shaun Lopez, and bassist Chuck Doom, based in Los Angeles.
††† has been framed as “Chino Moreno’s witch house” project, but what you'll find on the trio's self-titled LP is stadium-status electro-rock akin to Depeche Mode's Songs of Faith and Devotion and Nine Inch Nails. In fact, ††† are supposed to be taken on the same scale as Moreno's other band, the Deftones.
Do you have a meaningful relationship with the music of Deftones? Are you in a meaningful relationship with someone who does? If that’s the case, I don’t think I need to tell you the code we follow: Chino is off. f"*&king. limits. I suspect he’s become one of the most likable rock stars at his level because when he embarrasses himself and he definitely has over the years it happens in a way to which most people can relate. Which is to say, you get overly influenced by your friends, let your enthusiasm get the better of you, and try just a little too hard to look cool or to fit in. And that’s why he’s been forgiven time and time again. I've seen Chino fall off the stage and keep singing in the crowd. What a champion.
