Plantation Gran Anejo Guatemala

Plantation Gran Anejo rum is a blend of young rums (minimum 4 years old) from Guatemala, first aged in Bourbon barrels in the Caribbean before being sent to France to be aged a second time by the Cognac Ferrand house. Do not hesitate to read our article to learn more about Plantation rums and their production. The color of this rum is coppery with beautiful orange highlights. The nose is very soft and complex (creamy and gourmet) , amazing for such a young rum; it actually has the nose of a rum a few years older. Certainly the result of its refining by Cognac Ferrand. It is fruity and sweet on spices; a subtle blend of vanilla, caramel (candy), wood and spices (licorice, cinnamon) and exotic fruits (bananas, coconut). A chocolate scent attracts the attention in a very pleasant way.

After resting, the fruity aromas become drier (grape, fig) and nutty (almond), with a touch of peppermint.

On the palate it is soft and mellow, and still as delicious (caramel) and sweet, all cleverly highlighted by precious wood, orange peel and spices (cinnamon, clove). And still these dried fruits (almond, date).

The finish is long and warming and contrasts with the softness perceived in the mouth; the citrus fruits are very present (orange always) as well as the spices (wood, cinnamon). A minty freshness is added at the end.

This rum is a very pleasant surprise, it is young in age but has the maturity of its elders as if its final refinement at Cognac Ferrand had "rounded off the edges". It is round and seductive, and the finish is perhaps a little too much at odds with the rest, but it is difficult to ask more from such a young rum.

In any case, it competes with other rums from Guatemala (Zacapa, Botran). This makes it excellent value for money.
