Today’s prompt for #GinADayMay is ‘words’.
To showcase this, I decided to enjoy the Barra Atlantic Gin. What an instant hit this was!
Comprising 17 botanicals, the key one is Carrageen Seaweed, foraged wild from the shores of the Isle of Barra, Scotland. On the nose, it’s full and fresh with juniper, with a tinge of herbal notes. You can’t possibly miss the light nose of seaweed too. On the palate, a very light citrus meets with the savoury saltiness of the seaweed. The saltiness resurfaces with a coriander/pepper heat finish. Ah, An extremely well balanced one.
I generally prefer having my gins with soda as I feel the full flavours get accentuated (and garnished with grapefruit and a tinge of mint as beautifully spelt out 😂) but this time, I am inclined to think that this one may have been better on its own, with ice.
A true coastal gin!
