Kunstwerk means artwork and this is exactly what this bottle is- a true piece of art. I got hold of this recently and am very glad it’s sitting fittingly on my shelf.
Kunstwerk features rosemary, juniper, cardamom, lavender and lemon amongst others. It definitely retains a juniper backbone but the herbaceous notes of rosemary are very dominant. What also stands out to taste is the powerful floral freshness emanating from lavender and citrus notes which balances the juniper. Honestly, it’s a bold, herbal yet citrusy gin to me!
As you would expect, this makes a smashing Gin and Tonic, adventurously garnished with a twig of homegrown rosemary and a slice of orange. Makes it really full bodied and complex!
Marcus, the man behind this label, very proudly shared with me that inspiration for his label came from his two year old child, who was messing around with some paints and colour. This then unfolded to be the label, and subsequently the name! Time to pass my four year old some paint brushes, you think??
Marcus kindly gifted the two miniature bottles as he was just so proud that his work of art was making its way to the other side of the world.
You guys gotta try this one!
