It's an annual tradition stemming back to 1995 for Tequila-maker Jose Cuervo to have its Reserva de la Familia Extra Anejo bottle come packed in an artist-designed limited edition collector's box.

2024's art box will feature the work of Ana Pellicer, a notable sculptor, goldsmith and conservationist, whose works have been represented at MoMA and Mexico City's House of Gaga. For her collaboration with Cuervo, Pellicer has used a tempera technique where fast-drying paints are mixed with water soluble emulsions to create a rich and waxy sheen and finished look. The inspiration here was to recreate the agave fields of Jalisco from which Cuervo harvests the agave for its Tequilas.

The Reserva de la Familia Extra Anejo expression is a 3 year old Tequila that has been aged in French and American oak barrels before being blended with Tequila reserves aged for over 30 years. This creates a flavour profile of maple, clove, anise and toasted sesame notes.

17,000 bottles of the Extra Anejo expression is released by Cuervo each year.

The 2024 collaboration with Pellicer will retail at US$190.
