Latest in Sydney's Archie Rose's Harvest Series is the distillery's Emerald Finger Lime Gin.
The newest creation makes use of native Emerald Green Finger Limes from Marvick Native Farms. The finger limes are said to be grown in the coastal air of Western Australia, and because they're handpicked with care, the distillery is able to use both the lime skin and the citrus pearls to create the gin.
This has created a gin that offers "heady aromas of makrut lime zest, (also known as a kaffir lime, a citrus fruit native to tropical Southeast Asia) yuzu and powerful peppery pine, [with a] luxurious mouth-coating citrus flavour, balanced by fresh cracked pepper, and soft notes of honeydew gelato, chervil, and violets."
“As you approach the glass you experience a fresh and zesty aroma of citrus peel. The finger lime is bright and vibrant and there is a harmonious balance with the juniper and the coriander
On the palate the finger lime is the hero and leads with a tangy, verdant and refreshing taste supported by the piney spiciness of the juniper.
The finish is long and clean with the finger lime's brightness gradually giving way to the gentle warmth of the orange and chamomile.
In this Harvest release we were keen to have Emerald Green Finger Lime shine as the top note with all the other botanicals gently blending together to create a balanced accordion of flavours.” says Archie Rose spirits blender Silvia Segato.
Archie Rose's new Emerald Finger Lime Gin launches on 4 September 2024.
